Masterson’s Lounge, positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment became a nightmarish ordeal . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I experienced behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .

The ground was covered in grime , and a nauseating aroma of decaying beverages and filthy restrooms polluted the entire bar . The main bar, which should be the focal point of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and refuse that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The bathroom was in even worse condition — clogged , with a shattered handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was human excrement .

From reading other reviews and chatting with the community, it seems that the check here level of hygiene (or lack thereof) at Masterson’s is a long-standing issue . His presence at the bar often felt more like that of a predatory presence than a genial proprietor .
